Kids Explore Japan

The Kids Explore Japan Program aims to expose the youth to non-traditional foreign language and culture, which in this case is Japanese. My name is Tracee and I’m the Founder/Lead Instructor for the Kids Explore Japan program based in Midtown Detroit. The Kids Explore Japan program's primary objective is to introduce Japanese language and culture to it's participants in an impactful and engaging manner. The program seeks to bridge the educational gap by providing youth access to one of the most challenging languages in the world, broadening their horizons, challenging their brains, improving cognitive and social development all while enhancing future career opportunities. With the rapid globalization of our society, our underrepresented youth must learn the benefit of connecting with other cultures beyond the realities they immediately perceive and/or experience. It is our goal to spark a curiosity in their minds to explore Japan and eventually the rest of the world. I had a 20 year career with the Detroit Planning & Development Department followed by executive leadership with a statewide health non-profit. However, this work resonates with my spirit and after seven years of providing this service to the community, I have seen it’s awe inspiring impact firsthand. Our children shine bright with confidence, pride and excel beyond societal expectations
